A Pooja Garland, often referred to as a "Pooja Mala" or "Prayer Garland," holds cultural and religious significance in various traditions, particularly in Hinduism. The term "Pooja" translates to worship or prayer, and a Pooja Garland serves as a sacred accessory during religious ceremonies and rituals.

Typically made from a string of beads or flowers, the garland is used to adorn deities, idols, or sacred objects during worship. The choice of materials for the garland can vary based on cultural practices and personal preferences. Traditional Pooja Garlands are crafted from natural elements such as Rudraksha beads, Tulsi (holy basil) beads, or fragrant flowers like jasmine or marigold.

Rudraksha beads, derived from the seeds of the Rudraksha tree, are considered auspicious and are believed to possess spiritual and healing properties. Tulsi beads are revered for their association with Lord Vishnu and are commonly used in devotional practices. Fragrant flower garlands not only symbolize purity but also add a sensory dimension to the worship experience, enhancing the atmosphere with their natural fragrance.

The act of adorning a deity with a Pooja Garland is a ritualistic gesture, signifying devotion, respect, and the offering of one's prayers. As each bead or flower is strung onto the garland, it becomes a tangible representation of the worshipper's spiritual journey. The circular form of the garland symbolizes the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth in many Eastern philosophies.

In essence, a Pooja Garland serves as a tangible link between the worshipper and the divine, fostering a sense of connection and reverence in the sacred space of prayer and ritual.
