Kala Til, also known as black sesame seeds, holds significant importance in various religious and spiritual practices, particularly in Hinduism. These small, oval-shaped seeds are revered for their auspicious qualities and are often used during prayers, rituals, and ceremonies. Here is an overview of the significance of kala til in prayer:

Symbolism: Black sesame seeds symbolize purity, prosperity, and fertility. The dark color represents the essence of creation and the cosmic energy. It is believed that offering kala til during prayers invokes blessings from the divine forces and brings good fortune.

Religious Offerings: Kala til is commonly used as an offering during devotional rituals and ceremonies. It is often placed on an altar or offered directly to the deity as a mark of devotion. The act of offering these seeds signifies surrendering one's desires and seeking divine blessings.

Mantras and Yantras: In Hinduism, various mantras (sacred chants) and yantras (geometric diagrams) are associated with specific deities. Black sesame seeds are sometimes used in the creation of these yantras or during the recitation of specific mantras. It is believed that incorporating kala til enhances the potency and effectiveness of the rituals.

Ritual Purification: Kala til is also used for ritual purification purposes. It is common to see people rubbing these seeds on their body before undertaking religious ceremonies or visiting sacred places. This act is believed to cleanse one's aura and purify the individual from negative energies.

Auspicious Occasions: Kala til holds significance during auspicious occasions and festivals. It is used in various dishes and sweets prepared during celebrations, such as Makar Sankranti or Lohri. These occasions mark the transition from winter to spring, and consuming black sesame seeds is believed to provide warmth and energy during this time.

Health Benefits: Apart from its religious significance, kala til is also known for its nutritional value and health benefits. It is rich in essential nutrients, including calcium, iron, magnesium, and healthy fats. Consuming black sesame seeds is believed to promote overall well-being and vitality.
