Jaiphal is an exotic spice that has been used for centuries in Indian cooking, and it's also known as nutmeg. It's actually the seed of a tropical evergreen tree native to Indonesia and Southeast Asia that produces a beautiful and delicate flower. Jaiphal seeds are collected by hand, dried, and ground into a deep brown powder with an aromatic, slightly sweet flavor profile similar to nutmeg but stronger, with hints of cinnamon and clove. Jaiphal can be sprinkled on savory dishes such as chilies or rice dishes, or enjoyed in desserts such as cakes or custards for a special winter treat.

Jaiphal powder is the seed of the fruit of the nutmeg tree. It is used as a spice in Indian, Bangladeshi, and Nepali cuisine, and to flavor many foods such as milkshakes and desserts. It is also used to mask unpleasant tastes in medicines and charas, an illegal narcotic made with tobacco leaves that is smoked in India.

Nutmeg is a spice with an earthy and sweet aroma that's also known as jaiphal powder. The powder spice has a light brown color with a nutty, mace-like flavor that pairs well with dishes such as stews, curries, and bread puddings. It is used in small quantities for flavor but because it has a strong flavor, it should be used sparingly to avoid overpowering the dish's other flavors or other spices in the dish.
